If you are looking to load new laminating film onto your laminator and still have a little bit of film left, there is a way to use the remaining film to help you load new laminate onto your machine. This article describes how to use the existing film that is already loaded on your roll laminator in place of a laminating film threading card. This procedure requires your laminator to be hot and that the existing laminate be tacky or liquefied (be careful not to burn yourself on the heat rollers). Follow these instructions for replacing your film.

1. Preheat the laminator and remove the feed tray.

2. Cut the remaining top and bottom film webs between the supply rolls and heat rollers.

3. Raise the safety shield to the upright position.

4. Do not allow the adhesive side of the film to contact the heat or pull rollers. Liquefied or tacky adhesive deposited on heat rollers will require the rollers to be cleaned.

5. Remove the bottom film supply roll from the laminator and lower the bottom film guide.

6. Remove the bottom roll of laminating film by sliding the right to release it from the hex shaped brake hub. Loosen the locking screw on the left retaining collar of the film supply shaft and slide the collar off. Pull the shaft partially out of the film tube and then push it back in to knock out the left core. Pull out the shaft all the way out of the tube and remove the remaining core adapter.

The filmmaker has to do many things like writing a script, shooting the film, editing and then it has to be distributed to the public. This totally depends on how complex the subject is and also various problems that would come up while making the film.

Development: The idea of the filmmaker or any story that a producer finds is first transformed into a script. The source of the story can be many like it can be from a book or some play, or it could also be remake of a older movie. An outline synopsis is prepared as soon as the story is chosen. This breaks the movie down into various scenes, which are of one paragraph each. This is made into a treatment of 25 to 30 pages, which describes the characters, and the mood of the story.

Once you have decided that film school is the way forward for your career the next big hurdle is deciding which film college will best suit you. This is no easy task, as more and more people seek training in the art of film making more and more film making schools appear to fill the gap and one is not as good as the other. There are some major considerations you should take into account when you are deciding which film school best suits your aspirations.

Firstly, the standard of the faculty they employ at the school for film. You will be learning from your lecturer’s experience. If they have very little in the way of hands on experience then their lessons may not be the best you can get. As a deal the faculty of your chosen school should have a lot of experience in top Hollywood productions. If the school you are looking at does not boast a distinguished, experienced faculty then it may be better to look somewhere else. The last thing you want to do is waste your money on sub standard training when there are good film colleges that will set you up for life.

The next thing you must look into is the film school curriculum? Is there real depth in what they are proposing to teach you? This is going to be the stuff you are relying on to educate you in all aspects of the film industry. If the film college you choose has a curriculum that is light on content or does not suit what you want to learn it will not provide you with the basis for a successful career in film and television.

Recently I had the privilege of being invited to a test screening of a locally made film here in Chicago and the first question I asked myself after painfully watching it was as follows–

“Who in their right mind decide to play Baccarat with hundreds of thousands if not a million or so dollars on this doomed film”?

After doing a little investigation I realized that sometimes when daddy or mommy want the kiddies to do more with their lives than bitch and moan about a new BMW, they have to write them a check no matter what to fund their Hollywood dreams.

Well that’s the problem. There is no more “Hollywood” infrastructure that is linear and everything is based on doing a lot of homework and having a solid sales team in place before you make the film.

These filmmakers unfortunately, did not do theirs.

Fresh out of film school they automatically broke every rule by believing the first script they write should be made regardless how horrible it is. Now, I am not knocking down film makers, I am just saying its 2009 and you don’t make films that seem to have a subject matter best for a 1992 Chuck Norris meets Jeff Fahey film (If anyone even remembers Jeff Fahey, I’ll owe you something–not sure what)

Anyways, with a B.A. in film and bad script, they did what a lot of first time film makers and producers do. They cast actors that they are fans off, and not actors that can help sell a film.

Despite the instant gratification that digital imaging technology offers, many people are still clinging to the merits of the 35 mm film cameras and what these can deliver.  Professional photographers generally advance two reasons why they choose film over digital photography.  These two are the feel and look of the images rendered by film, characteristics most evident in movies.  The differences are most noticeable in motion pictures that are traditionally film-based compared to video footages broadcasted over television.  Film-based movies have more life, with the images and characters they deliver as living, breathing beings.  Movie buffs would describe these as film having the soul which is absent in a digital image rendering.  More depth could also be found in film because this medium captures more action, more light and much more richness than the digital-based output.

Seasoned photographers likewise describe this film advantage as the style or feel that can’t be found in digital images.  Highlights are better held in pictures taken for instance by 35mm digital cameras.  These highlights could be used to emphasize a main subject or express some subtle emphasis on a secondary subject, something which could not be done with digital photography.  Color play also comes in when using slide film wherein the red colors come out particularly better than in digital. Every other color likewise tends to be more vibrant and deeper when captured on slide film than when taken with a digital camera.
