The wide variety of local film festivals in NYC proves the diversity of the city’s eclectic residents. If you love movies, there is a film festival (or several) happening annually that should peak your interest. Established in 1962, the New York Film Festival is the oldest of the local film festivals in NYC and one of the oldest in the nation. The movies shown are chosen by the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
The City University Film Festival highlights the work of student filmmakers at CUNY, so New Yorkers can see up and coming talent. The CUNY Graduate School of Journalism is also hosting a film festival this year with the theme of social issues through women’s eyes globally.
Fordham Law hosts the Forum Film Festival, centered on the cultural and societal impact of law in film.
The Gotham Screen Film Festival and Screenplay Contest was established to view and critique local, national, and international feature films, shorts, and documentaries.
